Types of Poker
Poker developed in the United States in the late 18th and early 19th centuries; an actor reported it being played in New Orleans in 1829. Texas Hold’em
Players are dealt two cards in their hands. During the game, the players place their bets, and then the cards are placed on the table. There must be a total of 5 cards on it. Each player makes the best five-card hand from the seven cards available, using both, one or neither of their two hole cards together with the five community cards (rules at Pagat).
5-Card Draw
In this type of poker, players are initially dealt 5 cards. Bets are placed and then the next round is played. Players have the option of changing cards they don't like from their hands. There is one draw, with a betting round before it and another after it (rules at Pagat). The combination is made based on the player's 5 cards.
Omaha
When playing Omaha, players are dealt four cards and then place their bets. Five cards are gradually placed on the table. Players step by step, as they discover the cards, raise their bets. Each player must use exactly two of their four hole cards and exactly three of the five community cards (rules at Pagat).
Stud
When playing Stud participants have 7 cards to hold in their hands. 4 of these are shown to all other players, and the remaining 3 are known only to the owner. The strongest combination of the 5 cards in a player's hand must be collected.
Razz
Razz consists of several rounds, where the players are gradually dealt cards. Each player gets 7 cards, and the lowest five-card hand wins. Straights and flushes do not count and aces are low (hand rankings at Pagat). Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5 is considered to be an unbeatable combination in Razz.

No. Since 1 July 2026 online gambling is a criminal offence in Bangladesh under the Gambling Prevention Act 2026, punishable by up to 5 years in prison and/or a fine of up to Tk 1 crore. A casino's foreign licence does not change this. Read our guide to the law.
Are BDTs available when using online casinos to play poker?

Do freerolls pay cash prizes?
