Comoros Government Disputes Anjouan Gambling Licences

By BestCasinosBD Editorial TeamUpdated

The government of the Comoros says the gambling licensing network run from its autonomous island of Anjouan operates without authorisation. According to reports on 19 and 20 October 2026, the government is working with international police and financial-intelligence agencies, is preparing legal action and has asked the United Kingdom for help (Casino.org, CasinoBeats).

Background

  • In December 2025 the Comoros central bank called the Anjouan Offshore Finance Authority and Anjouan Corporate Services "fictitious entities", in a warning aimed mainly at banking.
  • Anjouan has issued online gambling licences since 2023, and nearly 1,500 businesses appear on its public register. The Anjouan licensing body maintains that its licences are valid.
  • In September 2026, after the FATF published a report on money-laundering risks in gaming and gambling, Anjouan's licensing body said it had tightened its licence conditions (Focus Gaming News). It did not say which conditions changed.
